It is that time of the season again, the title races across the Europe are heating up, the Champions League is back in 2 days and it feels like the second Christmas of the winter season is upon us. If Christmas gave us a clear leader at the top of the pile, Christmas 2.0 has put some life back into the title race and now people are looking for someone at Liverpool to make the next big ‘Slip’.
Imagine a football match between Team A and Team B. A sports betting agency offers the odds 1.8 for the victory of the home team (A). If we suppose a 10% margin of the betting agency then (according to its bookmaker) it represents 50% (or 0.5) winning chance of the Team A. How do we arrive at this value? The procedure to determine the odds and winning chances is described at the page Sportsbook odds calculation (clear examples are included). It will be partly obvious from the further text too.

January into February is about the NFL Playoffs and Super Bowl. This weekend the divisional games will be held, and then the following weekend the conference championships will be played. Two weeks later on February 4, it’s the Super Bowl, which is brimming with props! In between the conference games and the Super Bowl, the NFL will offer its Pro Bowl on January 28.

All-everything guard Donovan Mitchell has seen an uptick in his production of late. But even Mitchell's 38 points on 12-of-24 shooting on Friday night wasn't enough for the team to overcome a 114-104 loss to Memphis. Coach Quin Synder and his player personnel are rarely successful unless they defend at a high level. And with the short bench the ability to do so has been an issue. Furthermore it will continue to be such in the latter part of the regular season.
When it comes to sports betting in the U.S., there’s a lot happening from mid-January through to May. Although many sports bettors feel that after the college football championship game and Super Bowl are over, that they’re simply waiting for NFL and NCAA football to start once again. But the fact is there’s more sports betting opportunities from January through to August than any other time and this is primetime for real cash sports betting.
In order to beat the juice and win in sports betting, a bettor must employ a disciplined approach in their analysis of each game using methods that have proven to be successful in the long run. I discuss my math models and analytical metrics in my Handicapping Methods essay, but you must realize that only the best and most knowledgeable handicappers can win more than 52.4% of their games. In their 2007 two page article about my handicapping success, the Wall Street Journal wrote, “…fewer than 100 people can sustain (win rates of 55%) over time. Most of them belong to professional betting syndicates that hire teams of statisticians, wager millions every week and keep their operations secret.”

The Key: The Utah Jazz will be hungry for a victory tonight over the Oklahoma City Thunder.  They have lost all 3 meetings with the Thunder this season, including the last two in excruciating fashion by a single point each.  They’ll avoid the season sweep and get a win and cover at home tonight.  The Thunder have been vulnerable of late, going 3-7 SU & 1-9 ATS in their last 10 games overall.  They just aren’t playing much defense at all, allowing 108-plus points in 11 of their last 12 games overall.  The Jazz are 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 games off a loss.  Take Utah.
As a hobby or something you do just because you like sports and think you can pick winners because you always tell your friends who will win that day, no definitely not worth it as a money-making opportunity or some type of money-management plan to grow your initial investment. But I guess it could be worth it as a fun thing to do and make games a little more interesting. But only like this with small enough bets that losing the money isn’t important. Some will say that throwing away money is always stupid, but giving up $5, $10 or even $100 for some is really no concern. As long as you aren’t cutting into rent or mortgage payments, food budget or just getting by every month due to betting I don’t see why it couldn’t just be for fun if that’s what you want to do.
Financial services veterans started Betfair and developed the world’s biggest online betting exchange. It’s like the eBay of sports betting. Instead of a bookmaker setting a “line” (or initial odds) and taking bets, you can bet against other bettors. Betfair’s exchange hosts wagers on dozens of different sports. There’s American football, cricket, darts, e-sports, greyhounds, and horses. Politics, too. There were around 200 million British pounds in matched bets on the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
For the World Cup final match on Sunday, when Croatia will face France, the French are strong favorites. At the online bookmaker bet365 on Friday, it cost you 250 to win 100 on a French victory, while you had to risk only 100 to win 200 on Croatia. I left out the dollar signs on those odds because they can’t take Americans’ bets. The difference of 50 in the payoffs is the sports-bookmaker’s “vigorish,” which corresponds to the spread between Buy and Sell quotes that provide the profit for market makers in our financial markets.
A successful sports betting strategy begins with managing your bankroll. To make a living betting sports, you must treat it as you would any other business. The old saying is that you should not use your rent money to bet with. That is true. But if you're betting for a living it is equally true that you must not use your gambling bankroll to pay the rent.

When it comes to sports betting, each person may be trying to accomplish something different. If your objective is merely entertainment, then your goal is entirely different than my goal of making a living. If you bet $100 a game on Monday night football to enjoy the game, it will cost you $5 a week if you can go 50-50. There is nothing wrong with that. It's cheaper than a movie. But that is entertainment expense, not an excellent investment vehicle.

Together, college and pro basketball have historically been one of the biggest winners for sportsbooks in Nevada. According to UNLV Gaming, sportsbooks actually won more money in 2017 from basketball than any other sport. Last year college and pro basketball win for sportsbooks were $87,431,000 while football (college and pro) was $76,896,000. Basketball accounted for slightly more than 35% of the win for sportsbooks last year.

Levante are the feel good story in Europe, and there’s no good reason to stop believing at this point. AccuScore calculates value on both the draw and a Levante win, so a split pick is the correct play on this one. Regardless of whether Levante win or draw, the pick would be profitable. The trends aren’t with this pick, but Levante has surprised us all this season. If Levante lose, however, Barcelona and Real Madrid will likely return to the top and Levante will be the forgotten story of the season.
